Actor Kamal Haasan has won 15 Filmfare awards and about 3 national awards for best actor. He has also won umpteen awards from the Tamilnadu govt as well as a doctorate. 

Actor Kamal Haasan will receive the prestigious FICCI-Frames Living Legend award this year. The presentation would be made by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Das Munshi in Mumbai on March 28, 2007.

Every year at the FICCI annual Global Convention, Frames, outstanding and eminent personalities from the field of entertainment are honoured with the Living Legend Award for their outstanding contribution to the field of entertainment. Recipients of the award have been luminaries like Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Asha Bhosle, Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Dharmendra to name a few.

Speaking about it, the FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) said the award was for his sheer accomplishment of high value in the Indian film industry. Kamal has taken many a first step in Indian cinema, has been consistently dedicated to his work and involved in it passionately and everyone is well aware of that, said the announcement.

Kamal is also known for putting back into films what he earns from it as well as well as many other positive aspects of his career make him eligible for this award. FICCI has also lauded Kamal for making his fan clubs into useful instruments of organization involved in charity work.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Das Munshi will confer the award on Kamal on March 28.
