Dancer Kutty who the hero of Keyar’s film Dancer died
Young actor - dancer Kutty, the hero of Keyar’s film Dancer - is no more. It was a sad day for Tamil filmdom as Kutty, the one-legged dancer, who caught everyone’s attention with his remarkable show of courage in the film Dancer, died yesterday near Paramakudi,
The one-legged dancer, who had been a source of inspiration to the entire society, fell from the stairs while speaking on the mobile and suffered head injuries.
He died after he fell from the terrace of a lodge where he was staying. He had gone there to perform at a dance programme at a local festival near the town. Kutty had lost his right leg in an accident few years ago. But he never gave up hope. He vowed to become a dancer with his single leg and achieved fame through his national award winning film Dancer. He had stunned the people of the state with his astonishing dance performance with a single leg, without any support. But after that film, Kutty didn’t get any more offers in Kollywood. He used to travel throughout the state and perform at dance programmes in local festivals. The people always gave a warm welcome to his programmes. Yesterday he had gone to Paramakudi to perform at the Muthalamman festival, where he stayed at a lodge for the night. While talking on his mobile phone on the terrace, he lost his balance and fell down. The organizers rushed to the spot immediately and took him to a hospital for treatment but he succumbed to severe head injuries. Director Keyar has gone along with Kutty’s parents to Madurai to get his body.
Kutty, winner of many awards, had shown remarkable resolve in doing what he did with the obvious handicap.
With his death, the filmdom will be poorer of an inspirational figure.
