Chennai International Airport ready for A-380, Worlds largest passenger airliner

Its really a good news about Chennai International airport. Yes, the Chennai International Airport is being ready for the worlds largest passenger airliner. The Chennai airport authorities on Friday said the new A-380 aircraft is expected to touch down at the airport. A release from the Airport Director’s office said the airport had earmarked Bay no 35 in December 2005 for parking of Airbus A-380. The runway and the taxiway and landing aids were in place and were of international standards. Its already been in news that, the A 380 is going to touch Mumbai and NewDelhi airports on May 6, 2007.
The airport had recorded a jump of 11.5 per cent in international and 59 per cent in domestic aircraft movement and 11 per cent in international passenger movement and 45.6 per cent in domestic passenger movement.
The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, four-engined airliner manufactured by EADS (Airbus S.A.S.). It is the largest passenger airliner in the world. It first flew on 27 April 2005 from Toulouse, France. Commercial flights are scheduled to begin in late 2007 after lengthy delays. During much of its development phase, the aircraft was known as the Airbus A3XX. The nickname Superjumbo has become associated with the A380.
