Vellithirai is the movie directed by Viji with Prakash Raj, Pritviraj and Gopika. The movie is based on the tinsel world and the Prakash Raj, the producer of the movie wanted to shoot the climax of the movie in a theatre with audiance present. But his wish could not be fulfilled since he could not find any theatre in chennai as all the theares are packed with Deepavali and post Diwali films. Hence he is now in Hydrabad to shoot the climax with more than a thousand junior artistes.

The film is a remake of Malayalam hit Udhayannu Thar directed by Roshan Andrews. The climax of the original malayalam movie was also shot in a cinema theatre, showing an audience attending the premiere of the hero’s film as an independent director.
