Movie Review - Vel
Surya’s double treat to his fan this deepavali is definitely a treat and a good entertainer. As we know already its the story of twin brothers separated at birth and how they meet and unite with everyone forms the crux of the story.

The story unfolds with a parents (Saranya and Charanraj) losing one of their three-month old twin children on a train journey. The children grow up in different locations and backgrounds. One Vasudevan(Surya) grows in Chennai and becomes an officer in a private investigative agency and the other Vetrivel(Surprise….Surya again!!!) grows in Dindukkal and becomes a typical village young man.
Vasudevan falls in love with VJ Asin and impresses her through his professional beliefs. VetriVel is engaged in a fight with Sakkara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani), who has deep rooted hostility against the family. Vasu’s mom cannot forget her other son and hence vasu tries to put a stop to the guilt his parents have been consistently going through by finding his twin brother.
Here Asin helps him when she accidentally finds Vel. The family, in which Vel lives, is affectionate with him. Especially the grand mother (Lakshmi) is emotionally dependent on him. The twins find themselves caught in deep frustration over their overturned lives, that is filled with a desperate longing. It is then they decide to swap places.
Vasu continues Vel’s fight against Sakkara Pandi but with a different approach. Vasu uses his brain and investigating network instead of muscle power. The rules of the game changes, and Sakkara Pandi finds himself cornered.
Hari, has lived up to his image of commercial directors in Tamil, with Vel movie having the right mix of action, sentiment, and romance. Vadivelu and Charlie are Vel and Vasu’s companions respectively and play their part well. Lakshmi and Saranya as mothers add the right mix of emotions.Kalaabhavan Mani has done remarkably well.
On the whole Vel is a complete family entertainer package this Diwali.

Vel is a stale movie about brothers getting separated at birth. We have seen this story line over and over again. I really did expect more form surya who did Kakha Kakha and Gajini. Every aspect of this movie is expected. You look for a song there it is, look for a fight there it is. People in large Vans chasing each other. This movie actually took me back in time and reminded me of so many movies. Sorry Surya better Luck next time.
okk…im sorry but I thought vel was a rlly good moviee!! I think Surya acted very well for a double role. It was really cool and hopefully his next film will be a hit also!
