TN signs MoU for ship building yard
The Tamil Nadu government today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korean company Good Erith Maritime for constructing a ship building yard at Cuddalore at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi signed the agreement with the company chairman. The work would be completed in three years.
The ship building yard would provide direct employment to 5,000 persons and indirect employment for 20,000 persons, a government release said.Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, Chief Secretary L K Tripathi and other officials were present during the occasion.The company had sought the state government’s permission for constructing a ship building yard when its representatives met the Chief Minister on November 7, 2006.
